PHP Law Firm Showered a CASA Family for Christmas

Prochaska, Howell & Prochaska LLC Law Firm, a “Community Partner” for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Sedgwick County, recently worked with volunteer advocates from the organization to shower three local children with hand-selected gifts on Christmas.

“CASA of Sedgwick County wants to give a huge thank you to PHP Law Firm for the Christmas gift donations for CASA kids,” said Lexi Hartloff, an advocate supervisor at the organization. “The thoughtfulness at PHP Law Firm has brought holiday cheer to some great kiddos.”

An Important Partnership

CASA of Sedgwick County provides caring, trained volunteers to advocate for the abused and neglected children of our community who are typically in foster care awaiting a permanency decision related to their child welfare case.

PHP Law Firm and its medical malpractice attorneys have provided support to CASA of Sedgwick County since 2016, and the firm was recognized as a “Community Partner” in 2018, which designates highly significant partners.

A Special Group of Sisters

The three children who were showered with hand-selected gifts from PHP Law Firm are female siblings ranging in age from 10 to 14 years old. The three sisters and a fourth sister of theirs are all in separate foster home and facility placements, and the children do not currently have in-person visitation with each other or any visitation with other relatives.

“When we heard about these sisters and the Christmas they were each facing without each other, our hearts went out to them,” said Ryan A. Prochaska, a partner and medical malpractice attorney at PHP Law Firm. “We believe every child deserves to receive thoughtful gifts from people who care for them.”

The Hand-Selected Gifts

Three of the four sisters have their own volunteer advocate through CASA of Sedgwick County, and their other sister is on the wait list to be assigned her own volunteer advocate. The three current volunteer advocates developed an Amazon Wishlist with hand-selected gift ideas for each assigned child. The wishlist that PHP Law Firm fulfilled included 14 different gifts of new clothes and toys, including puzzles, jewelry kits, art sets and more.

A Special Christmas

The volunteer advocates coordinated delivering the gifts from PHP Law Firm to the three sisters prior to Christmas. However, their fourth sister was not excluded! Although she is still on the wait list to be assigned a volunteer advocate, the current volunteer advocates ensured that she also received several thoughtful gifts.

“We are very thankful that we were able to shower these sisters for Christmas,” said Prochaska. “Although their current circumstances are not ideal, we were so happy to hear that they had a Merry Christmas!”
